America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities are teeming with some of the most brilliant minds on Earth, but the gates of opportunity are systematically shut to them: an HBCU alumna with the skill of Shakespeare stands virtually no chance of having her book or script read in Hollywood. Meanwhile, many severely underfunded HBCUs are struggling in their crusade to forge futures of hope for hundreds of thousands of young people, with some at the brink of bankruptcy.
Realm passionately joins their crusade. Throwing down the gauntlet for both Hollywood and Wall Street to follow, we pledge to endow our HBCUs with 10% of Steal Away’s net box-office revenues, endowments projected to potentially surpass $70 million. Meanwhile, Realm will tirelessly draw upon the outstanding literary, performing arts, and technical talent emerging from our HBCUs in the production of our motion pictures, breaking outstanding young artists of color into the $2.3 trillion global media industry and lighting up global screens with their vital visions and voices.
